These are not truly separate breeds. The genetic pools of these two types are not differentiated enough. However, the two types are selectively bred. The popularity of the mini Aussie is still growing. The breed attracted new fanciers and responsible breeders.

Australian Shepherd Mini -

This smaller breed version is intelligent and versatile. It preserves the herding instinct and all the physical and temperamental features of the Aussie. The miniature breed is very much like the standard Aussie, except for the size. They usually weigh between 20 to 40 pounds and measure 13-17 inches tall.
